About the Defence Systems Innovation Centre
The Defence Systems Innovation Centre (DSIC) is a source of contemporary thinking and best-practice in systems engineering research, consulting and education.
To achieve this, the DSIC partners and collaborates with Australian and international Universities, Public Sector Research and Training Agencies, defence Prime Contractors and SMEs, and the Department of Defence.
DSIC provides independent, vendor-neutral expertise in concepts, strategies, modelling, tools development, training and education to enable the defence community to develop its skills and knowledge to deliver defence systems solutions successfully.
DSIC applies its expertise to resolving complex problems in current and future acquisition programs and in-service support through the application of world-leading capability.
Formed in 2008, the DSIC is a Joint Venture between the University of South Australia and the University of Adelaide. The joint venture agreement makes provision for other universities to join DSIC and in June 2010, the University of New South Wales agreed in-principle to join the DSIC Joint Venture as the third partner and negotiations are proceeding to finalise this outcome. More recently in late July, the Queensland University of Technology also has agreed in-principle to join as a Joint Venture partner.
DSIC has been expanding its reach into the existing university partners’ departments, schools, institutes and centres to harness their world-class capability. By the end of 2010 with the new joint venture partners, DSIC will be a truly national organisation with the breadth and depth of capability better able to serve the needs of the Australian Department of Defence and defence industry.
